Energy-efficient windows are designed to reduce energy consumption by minimizing heat transfer between the interior and exterior of a building.

They help maintain a comfortable indoor temperature, reduce energy costs, and lessen environmental impact. Here are some key features and benefits of energy-efficient windows:

Double or Triple Glazing: Energy-efficient windows often have two or three layers of glass with insulating air spaces between them. This design helps to reduce heat loss during winter and heat gain during summer.

Low-E Coatings: Low-emissivity (Low-E) coatings are thin, transparent layers applied to the glass surface. They reflect infrared heat while allowing visible light to pass through, which helps to keep the indoor temperature stable.

Gas Filling: In some cases, the space between double or triple glazing is filled with inert gasses like argon or krypton. These gasses offer better thermal insulation compared to air.

Insulated Frames: Window frames made from materials like vinyl, fiberglass, or wood with thermal breaks provide additional insulation and reduce heat transfer around the window perimeter.

U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC): Energy-efficient windows are rated with U-Factor and SHGC values. Lower U-Factor means better insulation, and a lower SHGC indicates less solar heat gain.

Condensation Resistance: High-quality energy-efficient windows are designed to minimize condensation buildup, which helps maintain a clear view and prevents moisture-related issues.

Benefits of Energy-Efficient Windows:

Energy Savings: By reducing heat transfer, energy-efficient windows can lead to lower heating and cooling costs.

Comfort: Improved insulation helps maintain a consistent indoor temperature, increasing comfort throughout the year.

Environmental Impact: Reduced energy consumption means a smaller carbon footprint and less strain on natural resources.

UV Protection: Low-E coatings can block a significant portion of harmful UV rays, protecting interior furnishings from fading and damage.

Noise Reduction: Energy-efficient windows with multiple layers of glass can also help reduce outside noise, creating a quieter indoor environment.

When choosing energy-efficient windows, look for the ENERGY STAR label, as it indicates compliance with energy efficiency standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Let us help you find the best windows that suit your specific climate and needs!

WindowS & DoorS Frequently Asked Questions
Q -

What brands do you offer?

A -

We work directly with Anlin, Alside, and ProVia to offer some of the industry’s best windows, and we have access to additional brands. If there’s a specific manufacturer you’re interested in, ask your sales rep.

Q -

Why should I purchase new windows? (I have dual pane aluminum)

A -

As technology improves, some of the smallest changes can cause the biggest impacts. Dual pane vinyl windows with low-e3 have some of the best energy efficiency ratings in the industry. The coatings on these windows help keep out the heat, putting less strain on your home’s AC system. In addition to this, vinyl windows require less maintenance and won’t rust the way aluminum windows do.

Q -

What’s the warranty?

A -

Each manufacturer differs, but every window we install comes with at least a lifetime warranty for parts and labor. In addition to this, Star Energy automatically offers a 10-year labor warranty on anything we install. This means you can rest easy in your home knowing your windows will be covered. Q -

Why should I go through you?

A -

Because our owners are the one’s providing quotes, they can get you the best deals. A lot of larger companies have to charge more because of the greater overhead. We keep it simple, meaning you walk away with more money still in your pocket. In addition to this, we offer exceptional customer service. We take pride in the way our team invests in each individual project, helping you along every step of the process.

Q -

How do I submit a service request?

A -

Just give us a call at 916-457-7817 or email info@starenergyca.com. Please include any information about the service work required as well as any dimensions of the windows or location in the home if you can. Our office will submit the service request on your behalf. If you’d like to submit an Anlin service request on your own, you can access the online form at https://anlin.com/service-request/

Q -

Why dual pane? Lowe3? Argon? Vinyl?

A -

As you can see in the chart below, each of these improvements lower the u-value of the window. The U-Value or U-factor shows the rate of heat transfer through the window. A lower U-factor means more heat stays in your home in winter, and more heat stays out of your home in summer. This is a huge help on your HVAC system, lowering the overall energy need in your home. In addition to this, vinyl windows require less maintenance and insulate better than aluminum windows. All of the windows we offer have a U-Factor less than 0.30 and meet Title 24 requirements.
